What is La Leche League?
La Leche League is an international organisation founded in 1956 by seven women who wanted to help their friends who were interested in breastfeeding. Its mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, education, information, and encouragement and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and the mother.
La Leche League Leaders
La Leche League Leaders are mothers who have breastfed their own babies and are accredited by La Leche League International. They provide information and support by phone or by email and lead discussion meetings for mothers. They do much of their voluntary work for LLL, such as taking helping calls, in their own homes.
